Can they even be objective? And if not, why pretend? Isn't that why tenure exists? I mean I see your point - Ariela detected the professor's bias because she did not come into the class as a blank slate - she already had her own bias too. But those students who do come in with no strong opinion are likely to simply accept the professor's bias as fact. Ther solution however is probably not censure or whatever - critical thinking skills ought to be a strong part of any educational curriculum. I find that that was missing in undergraduate studies. Unless of course you're studying philosophy in which case you get too much critical thinking and then people avoid talking to you at parties... Are professors really expected to be unbiased?? This lady seems savvy and educated already to be able to detect the bias her professor is 'teaching'. Makes you wonder about its effect on the less savvy students. Educators job are to educate, inform, and make students think. Many want to persuade and indoctrinate using their bias when it comes to social and political subjects. Colleges need to deal with this problem by sampling their students opinions of Professors and warning, then removing, those with a political/social agenda.
