BD, FWIW, I wasn’t expecting that kind of VIP treatment–most of the people there were sponsors, and had paid a lot of money for VIP room access. I actually went in there assuming that the food was not kosher and the drinks were not free. After trying to pay for my drink and after learning that the caterer was Foremost, it was heaven, though. We would have loved to have had you there with us. Next time.

I was at said event, and I agree with the review on the whole. While I didn’t attempt to use my Jewschool credentials to get into the VIP (and yes, I would have if I could…I love free kosher meat), I think it’s kinda messed up that there is a VIP section for all of the so-called “important people in the Jewish community” as they sit above they very people they are trying to reach.

I love fun parties, shit like that…but i thought that aspect of it totally undermined the notion of us being a community at all.

That being said, I wish I could have gotten up in there.

I like your criticism and cynicism!!! I think it’s part of the Jewish way of seeing things… but I’m from a small community in Argentine, so let me tell you that you are lucky to have partys where there are so many Jews you don’t even have seats for everyone!!!
