Jon C. – I have the same affliction. Cats seem to love me despite the lack of any encouragement from me. Cat’s will sit on my lap just like that, sleep on my tummy and I have no idea why. Now I live in machaneh yehuda, the central market in Jerusalem, and am surrounded by cats! The good news is that the rats in the neighbourhood don’t come around so much.

It’s not that I hate cats either. I love birds more, and have witnessed too many times an overfed housecat kill a beautiful bird for sport, and not even eat it. I tend to prefer dogs, which give you love like a family member, whereas cats give you love like, well, a house plant. Nothing personal, they are just evil, objectively speaking. >:-)
