I know you’re trying to be funny, but I have to say that if you take away all of the meaningless and stupid political propaganda surrounding the idea of “loving freedom,” it is probably one of the most important values for me.
When I try to think about all of the societies, past and present, where people could not or cannot express themselves freely, could not or cannot move around freely, could not or cannot democratically replace their government with an assurance that they’d be able to replace that one as well using the same process, I conclude that with all of our flaws in the West, we offer, by far, the best systems under which to live.
We can discuss issues like economics, capitalism, and other factors which affect our societies but the idea of freedom is, without question, the critical part of what makes our societies great ones.
