Read it, and it's not too long.

My suggestion: revocate all academic titles issued by educational institutions that fail to grasp the idea of 'akademia' in its truest sense. This will eventually lead to fewer students, hence less money.

If people have nothing good to say, they should keep quiet. Serves The Middle right for making fun of the burqa video.

well there's a lot going on in this post.

Re: the panel thing, this is par for the course. Panel organizers think ethnic/religious diversity is the relevant metric for "balance," so an anti-Israel Jew and an anti-Israel Arab or Muslim is a fair makeup for an Israel-related panel in their eyes. Never mind the diversity of *opinion* (the only useful diversity in this context) that is totally ignored by such a panel makeup.

Re: the anti-Semitism charge, IMO there was a point in the not-too-distant past when the charge of anti-Semitism was overtaken in frequency by the *denial* of anti-Semitism as a cloak for questionable speech. While there will always be right-wing knuckleheads that abuse the anti-Semitism charge to stifle *any* debate on Israel, there are, at this point, far, far more people who *pre-empt* the (often non-existent) anti-Semitism charge in order to say whatever hateful sh*t they want, e.g. "I will no doubt be charged with anti-Semitism for the grossly distorted charges I am about to level at the State of Israel...."

And then there are the lame attempts by anti-Israel groups to parade some confused Jew around in order to neutralize any charges of anti-Semitism. Never mind that their token Jewish member could be as ignorant and ill-informed as anyone else on Israel-related matters. Which brings me back to the first point re: anti-Israel Jews on Israel-related panels...
