Old Luke Oil logo, now changed
The Orthodox Union, the kashrut and service organization that is known for its O-U heksher on foods and products has dropped its lawsuit against Indiana-based Luke Oil, which owns and manages gas stations and co-located convenience stores in Illinois and Indiana. Luke Oil has already changed its logo and coffee cups, now it’s merely highlighting the “U” in Luke.
I suppose the Orthodox Union was concerned that drivers in Indiana would get confused and think the gas and oil fuels were certified kosher. I jest,… copyrights must be enforced.

If fuel counts as a mineral, it’s kosher by default…
I’ll get you qualified info on that!

this issue is over copyright and has nothing to do with kashrus.

When I saw the tagline, I thought that it was about biofuels from non-kosher restaurants.

Yes, which is why I mention, “copyrights must be enforced”

Eric a fair comment, and there would be halachical ramifications for trading in such fuels, but the car definitely doesnt need kosher fuel…. last time I checked my car wasnt wearing tzizis!

That’s a car with no strings attached…

It just goes to show how powerful branding is. People don’t think. People are so quick to judge and rely on the past perceptions of things that they rarely think for themselves. OU symbol – it must be kosher. This the whole “social proof” pitfall. Check out Cialdini on this.
