As a colleague of mine who sends her kids to camp put it, "It's nice for us adults to spend a few weeks off on vacation by ourselves". A psychology professor I know, specialised in childhood development and the psychology of learning, cringed in disgust at the notion of American summer camps. Funny how people will find excuses for camp but nobody I know of has ever run a background check (qualified staff? police clearances? first aid training? etc).

As a colleague of mine who sends her kids to camp put it, “It’s nice for us adults to spend a few weeks off on vacation by ourselves”.
