Old Man Goes to Jail for 18 Months

This is the fierce ass kicker of racist Hells Angels. Yup.

What the heck is the matter with England? According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Stephen Hall, the aforementioned member of the Hell’s Angels, was described as “fearsome,” “Muscle bound,” and a “large man with a fearsome reputation.” After spending the day drinking at a bar with the aforementioned old man, Keith DeGroot, the two had an argument. Hall knocked DeGroot’s glasses off, tipped over his pint and then called Degroot a “fucking Jew.” DeGroot took offense and whacked the 6ft 3in gang member upside the head with his walking stick. Hall was knocked senseless and spent 5 days in the hospital for treatment of a fractured cheek, bleeding to his brain and damaged nasal bones.

In sentencing DeGroot to 18 months in prison, Recorder Jane Rowley said:

…she accepted Degroot had reacted after “racist provocation” and took into account his age and that he only struck one blow… She said: “I accept that you did not intend serious harm but that your reaction was that you were reckless as to whether harm was caused when you struck him a blow of some force with a strike to the face… “It would be obvious to most people that serious injury may well follow… “Your offence is so serious that neither a fine nor community punishment can be imposed.”

The thing is that DeGroot isn’t actually Jewish. If it had been me that had been called “a fucking Jew” I’d simply say “Yes I am, thank you!” and be on my merry way. But still. He knocked over his pint for crying out loud! Seriously, if that doesn’t justify a whupping in England, what does???
