Potential Lew signature (Source: NyMag)

Jack Lew is rumored to be U.S. President Obama’s choice as America’s newest Secretary of the Treasury. Two of Attorney Lew’s unique facets are that he is an adherent of Modern Orthodox Judaism, and that he has one of the weirdest, loopiest official signatures in the Washington DC Beltway. As a U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, his signature will grace America’s paper currency.

Jacob Joseph “Jack” Lew, 57, is currently the White House Chief of Staff. A graduate of Harvard and Georgetown, he also served as the Director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in the Clinton and Obama Administrations, and was a Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources.

Actually, Lew will most likely sign his name in a more legible script if confirmed to the Treasury position. Retiring Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner, has the second worst signature in DC (he blames his grammar school training in New Delhi), and he changed his signature for his dollars.

Past U.S. Treasury Secretaries include: Alexander Hamilton, Henry Morgenthau, Jr., W. Michael Blumenthal, Robert Rubin, and Lawrence Summers.
