Having recently heard some talk.........I decided to check out this site. Just read the comment from Harriet, and wanted to add to this....yes, there was a physical relationship between Rabbi Rubinger and Sister Seraphima. Obviously, you don't know all there is to Rabbi Rubinger and his previous relationships, including ones during his first marriage. The relationship you know about was his second marriage, and not before that had some quirks, as well. While seeing the good sister, he was married to his third wife, and I might add, happily married.Shrimp was never an issue, but the topic did create a diversion from the real issue, which was adultry. Believe it or not, Rabbi Rubinger's third wife was quite content, and totally unaware of any romantic connections-after all, the good sister, was a Christian Orthodox nun, so why would she suspect, her loving Rabbinical husband of cheating? Honesty isn't just the thing, it is what a good marriage is based on, and that Harriet, was one of the many things lacking between the Rabbi, his congregation and his wife. Shame on him, shame on her. Shame on you for thinking that people fall in and love all the time. It's called marriage, for a reason.

Rabbi Rubinger was with oour congregation in Memmphis for three yeraas. It happens that he lost his first wife very tragically. As for the rest of this, I doubt he had a physical relationship with this woman prior to his separation from what I know of him. But we all know about the appearance of impropriety. We also are very quick to judge. Mrs. Rubinger's eating shrimp is not the issue. It is her commitment to what she and her husband agreed upon together to abide by in their marriage. It is obvious she was not happy. On the other hand, he could have been more honest with his wife and his congregation. People get divorced and fall in love all the time. Honesty is the thing!
